MathGate Support

Set up in 3 steps — about 2 minutes. Everything happens on your child’s iPhone.

Before you start

Your child’s iPhone should be signed into their own child Apple ID as part of your Family Sharing group. This is what makes MathGate tamper-proof — kids can’t delete the app or revoke its permissions.

The 3 steps

1. Choose apps to block. Install MathGate on your child’s iPhone and open it. Allow Screen Time access, tap “Set up now,” create your 4-digit parent PIN, then tap “Choose apps to block.”

2. Set the challenge. Pick which math your child practices (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), a difficulty for their age, how many they must get right in a row (5–20), and how long apps stay unlocked (15 minutes–2 hours).

3. Turn on the shield. Tap “Save & Enable Shield.” Blocked apps now show a lock screen. When your child solves their streak of problems correctly, the apps unlock for the time you chose, then iOS re-locks them automatically.

Common questions

Can my kid get around it? The lock is enforced by iOS’s Screen Time system, not by the app staying open. Force-quitting MathGate or restarting the phone won’t lift it. Settings live behind your PIN.

Does one wrong answer matter? Yes — the streak resets to zero. It rewards focus, not guessing.

Multiple kids? Install MathGate on each child’s device; each keeps its own settings.

Do you see our data? No. MathGate collects nothing — no accounts, no ads, no analytics.
